The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation’s Just Cook campaign is back for 2016 and it’s a great way to get kids cooking, as Sarah Hanrahan explains. One of the best things we can do for our children to help with lifelong health and wellbeing is teach them to cook. Not just bake, which is the preference of many teens and a great first step, but cook an actual meal that can be enjoyed with families and friends.
The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation is encouraging kids to get in the kitchen and have a go at cooking with affordable everyday ingredients. The Just Cook challenge runs through July: all kids have to do to enter is send us a photo of a dish they have cooked that fits one or more of our categories for the chance to win more than $2000 in cash prizes.

– Tegal Affordable Family Favourites
– I Love Eggs Feed The Family With Eggs
– Sanitarium Plant Based Family Meals.
– And… every entry containing two or more
serves of vegetables goes in the Wattie’s
draw to win one of five $100 Prezzy cards.
The Just Cook challenge is open to 10-18 year olds but we’re happy to take entries from younger children who may be having fun with parents or grandparents in the holidays.
We want to encourage as many kids as possible to get into the kitchen so please spread the word. We’re not after junior MasterChefs, just delicious food they would like to eat with friends and family.
