2016 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival
The 2016 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival presented by Bank of Melbourne is back and it has never tasted so good. Running from March 4 to 13 in Australia’s culinary capital of Melbourne, this 10-day festival of gastronomic tastes, sights, smells and sounds will be an exciting program of over 200 unforgettable food and wine experiences across the city and regional Victoria. Opening with the famed Bank of Melbourne World’s Longest Lunch, this feast will see more than 1600 guests seated along the iconic main straight of Melbourne’s Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit. The menu will be a tantalising affair with dishes by Guy Grossi of Ombra Salumi Bar in Melbourne, and Grossi Trattoria and Wine Bar in Bangkok. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking Victorian countryside with an abundance of regional producers and events including 20 Regional World’s Longest Lunches held simultaneously on the opening day. Food lovers of all ages can also discover the flavours of regional Victoria back in the city with a spread of events along the Yarra River during River Graze from March 4 to 6. The river will be a hive of waterfront activity with a secret garden opening party, City Cellar – a regional Victorian wine tasting, as well as free entertainment and a series of masterclasses with some of the world’s most renowned chefs. At the epicenter in Queensbridge Square will stand Festival Hub: The Urban Dairy, a showcase of the world’s leading cheese, yoghurt and ice-cream makers held throughout the festival. Other truly unique experiences include Whisky in the Sky where guests are treated to a whisky tutorial while flying over Victoria’s significant whisky sites in a historic DC3 aircraft, and Camp out at Heide where a meal inspired by fresh produce from the Heide gardens will be complemented by a private pre-dinner tour and an overnight tented stay under the stars. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or just looking for something new, there’s a smorgasbord of events to try. Join us for 10 days of unforgettable food and wine experiences down laneways, along the river, on farms and inside cellars.
