Join Waikato food writers on a fabulous excursion to discover the best of the Waikato on 21 and 22 July 2017.

FRIDAY 21st & SATURDAY 22nd July

ONE DAY – $45.00pp

9.00am – 4.30pm
A guided tour to just some of Waikato’s wonderful producers including a wonderful 3 course lunch. The day concludes with a brewery tour and cheese tasting, a prelude to WFI’s Ferment Fest (held in the last weekend of September)

9.00am – Meet in Hamilton, coached to our first stop.

9-12.30pm – We will take you to visit and meet the people behind a couple of great brands based here in the Wonderful Waikato.

12.30-2.30pm – Locavore lunch at Dough Bros, Central Hamilton. Enjoy an amazing three course lunch created using the abundance of great Waikato produce and products while having the chance to meet some of the producers. From coffee, to award winning cheese, bread to baby veg, honey to world class beef, olive oil, oyster mushrooms…..the list goes on!

2-30-4.30pm – We will sneak in one more visit before ending our day at Good George, the Waikato Brewery taking on the big boys. Watch the brewing process and then enjoy a few tasters paired with two of our local award winning cheesemakers.

Staying on? You’re in for a treat! After a chance to freshen up at your Hotel on the banks of the mighty Waikato, we will pick you up to take you to a casual three course dinner, with matching wines at Hayes Common, one of our newish eateries doing fabulous things in the “burbs”.

TWO DAY – $180.00pp

Enjoy Friday’s adventure, then stay overnight and enjoy even more of what the Waikato has to offer.
Includes a night’s stay at The Ibis, a wonderful 3 course dinner and 5 course lunch the next day. We will also sneak in a visit to the Farmer’s Market and our oldest winery.

9.00am – Pick up and transported to the lush fields of Southern Fresh. See your salad leaves, baby veg and stunning beets being grown in the field and follow them from harvest to packaging and dispatch.

10.00am – We head off to the leafy town of Cambridge to visit the Farmers Market where we will meet more wonderful local producers.

12.00pm – Settle in for a stunning five course lunch, with matching wines at Alpha St Kitchen.

2.30pm – We head back to Hamilton but take a quick detour to visit Vilagrads, an institution in the Waikato. This family run business is renowned for their hospitality and being able to put on a great party. They are also the oldest winery in the region.

4.30pm – Arrive back in Hamilton.
