NZ School of Food and Wine Courses 2016

A large range of courses on offer at the NZ School of Food and Wine for both full time and part time students. For more information come along to our Open School on Tuesday 23 February, 2-6pm

Hospitality Level 4 – There is still space in our Hospitality Level 4 course starting on Monday 7 March which feeds into the Level 5 qualification on Monday 25 July. This course offers barista unit standards, WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits, Cocktail and bartending and lots of hands-on experience.

The Level 5 Certificate in Hospitality and Event Management focuses on business management with modules for Accounting and Excel to improve spreadsheet skills, budgeting, menu planning and food costs knowledge. The Event Management module culminates in the planning and organisation of our own W&F Wine and Food Celebration that runs from Saturday 10 September until Tuesday 13, 2016. The 2016 W&F Celebration will have lots of exciting things to do from an authentic American Barbeque Session to a Seafood Forage, to a hands-on dumpling class.

For people who do not want to leave their day job, we have a Part-time NZQA Level 3 Cookery course that runs on Mondays and Tuesday from 4 – 9pm. The full time Level 3 Cookery start on Monday 11 July.

How to Find a Job in Hospo – Something new, for university and tertiary students who want to gain casual hospo work while studying, where teach key hospitality skills – like carrying 3 plates, pouring wine or beer, table setting or clearing – in order to help these young people find casual work during their study. We have linked with a group of caterers and event managers who are very keen to support us with this course.

Plus a new Part time weekend option for Certificate in Professional Wine Knowledge This starts on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April with the NZSFW Certificate in Wine. You can sign up for modules of the programme and take your time to complete the whole certificate. Email me for more information.

We also have some great courses coming up – some are part time during the evening or weekend and others are fully-fledged NZQA professional qualifications.
Essentials of Cooking Fine Food at Home starts on Tuesday 1 March and runs over 8 weeks from 6pm.
Cocktail and Mixology course starts on Tuesday 1 March and Tuesday 15 March.
Beginners course to setting up your own hospitality business runs during the weekend and starts on Saturday 5 March.

For busy business people who want to do some team building or client entertainment, we have our Corporate Events which include the Kitchen Confidential – where a group of up to 30 people get to cook and then enjoy dinner with matching wine. We also offer our Stretch the palate concept where you taste and savour a selection of food and exciting wines.
